Here are some examples of Catalan culinary specialties that you can taste during your stay:

Pa amb tomàquet

Take a slice of bread, rub it with garlic and tomato add a little salt and drizzle all with olive oil. You have just made a pan tom tomtaquet, the staple of the Catalan breakfast.

Sarsuela

Fish based dish fried in olive oil, then blended with crushed tomatoes, garlic, onions, cinnamon, lemon, sherry, bay leaf and paprika. To finish, flambee with rum or brandy and add langoustines, calamari, mussels and small clams. Hum!

Fideua

A dish similar to paella cooked in a large round pan, with shrimps, langoustines, chicken, peppers and tomatoes, but replacing the rice with straight pasta.

Crema catalana

The catalan dessert par excellence, crema catalana is a crème brûlée that does not require baking, served cold and covered with caramelized brown sugar.

Calçotada

A real Catalan institution! The calçots, onions, are cooked with the embers and then “offset” of their skin first and tasted soaked in the famous sauce romesco based on tomato, red peppers, garlic, almonds and olive oil .
